Curly Hair Diaries: Number4 Product Review

Hey Lovelies,

Today, I will be doing a product review on the Number4 High Performance Hair Care  Hydrate and Style kit. This was sent to me by the amazing and wonderful team at Birchbox. If you haven’t heard of Birchbox, you can check them out here. It is a monthly subscription service where they hand pick 4-5 samples of lux beauty and lifestyle products and send them your way. It’s pretty sweet! I’m super happy to be a part of the #Birchbloggers and ready to share with you all my honest opinion of these Number4 products.  So, if you want to see more about how I styled my super curly hair with the Number4 Hydrate and Style kit…

Step One

Okay so first, I took my hair down and fluffed it out. Then I wet my hair before applying the shampoo and lathering it in.

This shampoo doesn’t lather very much and I can appreciate that. I do not like a ton of  soapy-ness. However, if you do, there’s good news because this shampoo is concentrated, so you can build a much larger lather.  Just a bit about these products according to their team of hair geniuses, the Number4 High Performance Hair Care products create a truly luxurious experience that stimulates the senses, inspires creativity and produces superior results. They are 100% Vegan. Gluten free, Paraben free, and my favorite SULFATE and SODIUM CHLORIDE Free. If your shampoos or conditioners have harsh sulfates in them, toss them. Quickly. You’re welcome. :)

Step Two

After a rinse, apply the conditioner. This one is super thick. I love that. I like to coat my hair with it and rake it through.

Step Three

Twist and roll. Tie it with a hair tie and WAIT 5-10 minutes. Then grab your BEST FRIEND… this comb.

Step Four

Probably the worst part. Ugh. Detangle. I know, some people smarter than me would say never detangle with conditioner in your hair. This works for me. Do what works for you when it comes to detangling, but DO NOT skip this step. Start from the bottom and go slowly. Do not yank the comb through your hair. Just guide it, girl. Now, since I used this super rich conditioner and let it sit, it was so much easier to comb through my hair. Overall, pretty great conditioner.

Step Five

Rinse and Dry. I always use a soft t-shirt. Nerdy girls love the Batman ones. Apply the Number4 Blow Dry Lotion.

Step Six

This Blow Dry lotion smelled like HEAVEN! My goodness. Number4 got it right with this scent. It’s floral and citrusy. Mmmm… I wanted to eat it. Now since I do not blow dry my hair, I can’t tell you how it will work for straight hair, but it worked just fine air-dried. It has a pump which is nice because you don’t lose a lot of product.

Step Seven

Time to define your curls. I put a generous amount of the Blow Lotion in my hair. Parted down the middle and twirled pieces of my hair. I like to grab sections about 2-3 inches apart. Twirl. Twirl. Twirl.

Step Eight

Now for the PINEAPPLE. Every curly girl should know how to pineapple. After you have twirled all the pieces, flip your hair over and tie it at the front of your head. Air Dry. You are completely done after it’s dry. You can style however you want.

8 easy steps. I really like the Number4 Shampoo and Conditioner. The shampoo was light and lathered little. I love that. The conditioner was super thick and rich. It didn’t have an over powering smell, and it made detangling very easy. That is AMAZING for a girl with tight curly hair. Plus, these products are free of that harsh stuff. They are anti-aging, color protecting, filled with botanicals, proteins, and moisturizers. This makes me feel like it’s a definite future purchase. Unfortunately, I can’t say much for the blow lotion. It wasn’t anything amazing but then again I did NOT blow “fry ” my hair.

Hope you all enjoyed this review, and if you’d like to see more of the Curly Hair Dairies let me know in the comments below.

Love you all!

      Hey girlie,
The pineapple protects your hair while you sleep and keeps your curls longer. They won’t get all flat. Tie your hair at the top of your head with a hair tie. It will look like a pineapple. It looks really cool.
